The International Society For Krishna Consciousness Founder Acharya : His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Srila Prabhupada

ISKCON or International Society For Krishna Consciousness is a social welfare, non-profit and pious organization that is engaged in spreading the values and teachings of the oldest literature of the Vedas.

History

The presiding deities of ISKCON Chhipiwara temple are Shri Shri Radha Vallabh ji. These stunningly beautiful marble deities stand tall at about two feet. It is believed that they were first installed on their altar around 130 years ago. But over the last four decades, the temple building got gradually deteriorated until the time ISKCON acquired its property in 2011. Since then, devotees had overseen the renovation of the temple which got completed in 2019. After the completion of its redevelopment work, ISKCON Chhipiwara temple witnessed its formal inauguration ceremony on the 1st of November, 2019 by HH Gopal Krishna Goswami Maharaja along with several senior Srila A.C Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada’s disciples.

Srila A.C Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada’s Library (Book Shop)

ISKCON Chhipiwara temple houses a beautiful international Bhaktivedanta library in the basement.This library has extensive collection of Srila A.C Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada’s books. It is also a treasure house of wide range of spiritual work of Srila Prabhupada’s disciples. Apart from these, the library has an extra collection of Bhagawad Gita books that are available in 30 foreign and 50 regional languages. Thus, non-Hindi or non-English or any foreign spiritual seekers can come closer to Krishna by reading about Him in their own language. In addition to all these, one can buy ISKCON related badges, dresses, Tulsi malas, Ganga water.

Srila A.C Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada’s Museum

ISKCON Chhipiwara also houses Srila A.C Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada’s room. Srila Prabhupada’s room is located on the second floor just above the altar of Shri Shri Radha Vallbha ji. It is the same room where Srila Parbhupada envisioned his worldwide Hare Krishna movement before departing for the West in 1965. Adjoining the room is Srila Pabhupada’s museum. It displays relics and paintings that depict Srila Prabhupada’s relentless efforts to spread the message of Krishna consciousness in India before presenting this imperishable spiritual gift to the westerners. Other relics that belong to Srila Prabhupada include his harmonium, a handwritten correction by Srila Prabhupada and his Prospectus for his 26 2nd Avenue temple in New York. He left the latter in Chhipiwara temple during his first trip back to India from the US in 1971 with his early disciples Kirtanananda and Achyutananda.
